Having been present on all six moon landings in history, the legendary Speedmaster is a true icon of space exploration and of the brand's pioneering spirit.
In this 44.25 mm model, the story of the Speedmaster aboard the Apollo 8 mission is celebrated through the darkened movement, with laser ablation on the main plate and bridges to represent the surface of the moon.
Key Materials
Grade 5 Titanium
Titanium alloys are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, biochemically inert and able to withstand extreme temperatures. These properties make them particularly well suited to medical products, aircraft and spacecraft. They offer a perfect balance of strength, corrosion resistance and ease of working the material.
Ceramic
We have unrivalled expertise in the use of ceramic, which began more than 10 years ago. Derived from the Greek word "keramos", ceramic is an inorganic, non-metallic substance obtained by firing at high temperatures. It allows the creation of completely dense watch parts with exceptional mechanical properties.
Sapphire Crystal
We use synthetic sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment and high scratch resistance. Produced by the Verneuil process, which melts the raw material until it crystallizes, it reaches a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it almost unscratchable and ensuring total clarity of the dial.
Movement
Caliber 3869
Manual-winding chronograph movement with Co-Axial escapement. Master Chronometer certified and approved by METAS, it is resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. Textured, darkened lunar relief on the main plate and bridges, with greater lunar detail compared with the previous Caliber 1869, thanks to defined laser engraving and contrasting surfaces.

In this 44.25 mm model, the story of the Speedmaster aboard the Apollo 8 mission is celebrated through the darkened movement, with laser ablation on the main plate and bridges to represent the surface of the moon. The near side can be admired through the skeletonised black anodised aluminium dial and the far side is visible through the case back.
Presented on a perforated black rubber strap with yellow rubber on the inside, the watch is made entirely of black ceramic and features chronograph seconds hands in lacquered yellow and a laser-engraved tachymeter scale on the bezel filled with white enamel. The small seconds subdial (patent pending) also features a grade 5 titanium hand in the shape of the Saturn V rocket. This 3D shape is achieved by laser turning, while the colours are obtained by white lacquer, ablation and laser darkening.
The specially decorated movement is the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 3869, while the engravings on the case back include "APOLLO 8, DEC 1968", "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON", "WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE" and "CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER"
