The piece you never have to take off
A chain is the one piece of jewellery that reads the same on everybody. It does not announce anything. It just finishes the neckline you already had.
Under a shirt it disappears. At an open collar it catches the light. It does not compete with anything else you are wearing.
A chain at the collarbone is read before the shirt is. It is the detail people notice without deciding to, and the one they remember afterwards without being able to say why.
Links, clasp, finish
Steel is either solid or it is plated, and a photograph cannot tell you which. Plated jewellery looks identical on a screen and gives itself away within a season — at the clasp and at the back of the neck, where the plating goes first. Solid steel has nothing to wear through.

Where will it sit on me?
It is cut to fall around the collarbone on most people — low enough to show at an open collar, high enough to disappear under a buttoned shirt.
Can I shower and swim in it?
Yes. That is the point of solid steel rather than plating — there is nothing on the surface for water to get under.
Will it turn my skin green?
No. That happens when a plating wears through to the base metal underneath. There is no plating here and nothing to wear through.
Does it need polishing?
No. A wipe with a dry cloth is the whole routine.
