A jacket is panels joined to a shoulder. Get that join right and the whole garment hangs; get it wrong and no amount of good cloth rescues it.

The honest version of the price
The expensive parts of a jacket are the ones a photograph cannot show: how the shoulder is set, how the front closes, and whether the pockets are built into the panel rather than onto it. Leave any of them out and the jacket is cheaper to make and worse to wear.
None of that was cut here. What was removed is the part that has nothing to do with the jacket: the rail, the shop floor, the distributor taking a cut on the way. We sell direct, so the retail margin that normally sits on top of a jacket built like this is simply not in the price. You are paying for the jacket.

Your usual size for a jacket worn over a shirt or a knit. If you expect a thick sweater underneath all winter, take the next size up.
Will it keep rain out?
It is built to turn weather rather than soak it up, which covers a shower and a damp commute. Sustained heavy rain is beyond what a jacket of this type is for.
How do I clean it?
Spot-clean it through the season and wash it cool at the end of it, then let it dry fully before it goes away. Heat is the one thing to keep it from.
